I’ve had a few challenges thrown my way these past couple weeks which have affected my ability to post more frequently.  So when I’m faced with the choice between training and writing, I’m going to train as that’s what’s going to get me to my goals.

However, as those of you with school-age children know, sometimes you have to forfeit your time for their time.

I recently volunteered to be the photographer for my son’s freshman football team, so besides being at every game taking photos, I’ve got another hour or so devoted to resizing and cropping those photos before e-mailing them to the team Mom for distribution.

Don’t get me wrong, being on the sidelines is a total kick.  It’s way more exciting than watching from the stands and I get to enjoy the the emotional ups and downs as the team experiences it.  And the kids love action photos of themselves, so it’s really a great opportunity to do something worthwhile for my son’s team (Go Mustangs!).

By the same token though, there’s only 24 hours in a day, so something has to give and that something is a fourth training day this week.

Wait.  Let me back up a bit.  In our last episode, your intrepid hero was steadily plugging away with six minute sets of longcycle with his mismatched pair of 20 kg competition kettlebells.girevoy sport competition kettlebells

I got back to work with practice on Friday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Friday, I closed out the week with a 7’00 work set at 6 rpm and an assistance 24 kilo OAJ set for 6’00 at 7 rpm.

On Monday, I mixed up my rpms with a 7’00 work set for 6,7,6,7,6,7,6 and another assistance set of 6’00 @ 7 rpm.

Tuesday I decided to do some one-arm work with a 10’00 set of OALC with the 24 kilo at a 7 rpm pace.

And finally, on Wednesday, I went back to longcycle practice with a 6’00 set of 7,8,7,8,8,8 pace, and an assistance set of OAJ for 6’00 at 8 rpm.

The rest of the week was filled with work and family obligations, so no more practice for the weekend.

I get pretty antsy when I don’t work out for that long though, so I’m looking forward to Monday’s practice and to the WKC Strength & Conditioning course at the Ice Chamber on September 25th and 26th, which will be an update for me, since I first took the course in 2007.  There’s been a few changes since then, so I’m looking forward to learning some new stuff and hopefully refining my techniques a bit.
