Return of The Kettlebell-09/05/09-“Heavy Test”

Epic Fail!  But not really.  I decided to try a test day as my last RTK workout before the HKC certification.  So after warming up and focusing myself to hit my goal of 19 reps—I got a total of 8 reps.

So to say I was a little disappointed is an understatement.  Basically, I got only 2 more reps than I’d been going up to on my heavy day ladders.  The problem was, I could feel my form falling apart as I hit the 8th rep, so I bailed and put the bells down rather than force the issue and get hurt.

In hindsight, I think my decision to use the 32s when I was trying to heal my elbow may have been a bit optimistic, to say the least.  While I’ve had a lot less pain in my elbow as RTK went along, it became really noticeable when jerking the 32s.

I’m going to take a break from RTK for now and focus on the swing,get-up and goblet squat – the three exercises the HKC will focus on, and then reassess after the HKC cert.

Perhaps using 28 kg bells for my heavy days may provide for better progression than jumping up to the 32s.
